  Beijing is the host of the 2008 Olympic Games. Millions around the world are expected to tune in to watch their countries fight for those all-important gold medals in over 300 events.Beijing has been preparing for this monumental event since 13 July 2001, when the city was elected as the official host at the IOC Session in Moscow.

  Biased towards kids and families but open to all, Hong Kong's six-week arts carnival covers a huge range of performing and visual arts. Around 200,000 people attend the 400 performances in major venues across the city.
